Woman Injured In Dog Attack

A woman, 22, has been seriously injured after being attcked by a dog in the outskirts of Lincoln on Sunday night.

The attack happened near the city's Outer Circle Road at around 10.30pm.

Armed officers, a helicopter and the police launched a warning to local people to stay away from the area.

The dog which is believed to be an American Pitbull was caught around 1.30am.

The dogs owner is to be questioned by police.

Inspector Michelle Mcllroy said: "She has suffered quite devastating injuries. They are not described as life-threatening, but certainly life-changing."

Investigation continues into dog attack
Police are continuing an investigation into a dog attack in Merseyside, which killed a five-year-old girl. Ellie Lawrenson suffered fatal injuries when the pitbull terrier-type dog attacked her at her grandmother's home in Knowles House Avenue, Eccleston, St Helens, in the early hours of January 1.

Woman Dies After Dog Attack
A 27-year-old woman has died after being attacked by dogs. Emma Bennett died on Tuesday night after suffering from serious bite injuries in an incident at a house in Dawlish Avenue, Leeds. The attack, which happened on Monday afternoon (9 December), is reported to have occurred while the woman was suffering an epileptic seizure.

Owners To Face Longer Sentences Over Dog Attacks
Irresponsible dog owners who allow their dog to attack people or assistance dogs will face tougher prison sentences from today, Tuesday. Changes to the Dangerous Dogs Act will also mean dog owners can now face prosecution if their dog attacks a person in their home or on any private property, except if they attack a trespasser.

Police Investigating If Woman Was Trying To Save Dog When She Was Hit By Train
British Transport Police investigating the death of a woman have said that she may have been trying to save a dog when she was hit by a train. The 22-year-old woman was struck by a train close to Ainsdale station near Southport, Merseyside at about 15:00 on Wednesday. Transport police said a dog was also found dead at the scene.

Police Dog That Attacked Elderly Woman To Be Put Down
A police dog that attacked a 73-year-old woman who later died is to be put down, Cleveland Police have said. Irene Collins died in hospital four days after being attacked by the police dog in her garden as officers searched for a burglar on 16th July.
