Melanie Hall Murder: Police Appeal For Information On Car

Detectives investigating the murder of Melanie Hall have appealed for information about a car that may be linked to her disappearance, 17 years ago.

Following the broadcast of an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme, police have said they want to talk to the owner of a white VW Golf GTI hardrop, registration C752 CYE.

They said the motorist might have key information to the case but the car is no longer registered with the DVLA, officers appealed to anyone who knew of the vehicle to help with the inquiry.

The 25-year-old, who worked at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, went missing after a night out at Cadillacs nightclub in June 1996.

Her body was found dumped by the side of the M5 near Bristol in 2009.

Detective Superintendent Mile Courtiour said officers are looking into a line of inquiry opened last October and forensic experts were examining a car which may be relevant to the murder.

He also said that forensic tests continued on some blue rope that was used to tie up the woman.

A 44-year-old male was arrested last year on suspicion of the murder and remains on bail.
