Meningitis B Jab To Be Free For Babies

The life-saving vaccine against Meningitis B disease will be made free on the NHS for babies if an agreement is reached with the manufacturers.

It is a U-turn from the Government who rejected the rule last year .

The notice arrived among the increasing pressure from charities and senior doctors received a letter from doctors asking him to adopt the vaccine as a form of protecting young children from the illness.

A Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) said in a statement: "The Department of Health will start negotiations with Novartis, which produces the only licensed vaccine, as soon as possible."
