British Soldier Faces Terror Charges

A British soldier is to be charged with explosives and terrorism offences according to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Ryan McGee, 19, from 5th Battalion the Rifles, is facing the charges over claims he made an improvised bomb. He is also alleged to have had a copy of the bomb-making manual 'The Anarchist Cookbook'.

McGee has been detained at an Army base in Paderborn, Germany.

He is due to appear in court next week.

British Soldier Charged With Child Rape In Austria
A British soldier faces charges of raping and abusing a child in Austria. Reports reveal that a soldier, allegedly with the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, was arrested on 29 November in Tyrol, Austria. It is alleged the unnamed soldier was found in the bedroom of a six-year-old girl after entering the house while drunk.

No charges over British soldier death
No charges will be brought over the death of Sergeant Steven Roberts and Iraqi civilian Zaher Zaher, the Attorney General has ruled. Lord Goldsmith said that there was "insufficient evidence" to continue with a criminal case.

Manchester Police Shooting: Cregan Charged And Remanded In Custody
Dale Cregan has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with murdering two police officers and two men in Greater Manchester. The 29-year-old is accused of murdering PC Fiona Bone, 32, and PC Nicola Hughes, 23, in Mottram, Tameside on Tuesday.

Sally Anne murder trial set
A date has been set for the trial of the man accused of murdering teenage model Sally Anne Bowman. Mark Dixie, 36, of no fixed address, appeared at the Old Bailey via video-link on Thursday. He was remanded in custody until December 15 for his next court appearance and the trial date was set for March 12.

MoD names soldier killed in Iraq
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the name of a British soldier killed in a bomb explosion in Iraq on Sunday. Major Matthew Bacon, 34, from the London area, was travelling in an armoured landrover in Basra, southern Iraq, when a roadside bomb exploded, hitting the vehicle.
