TV presenter John Leslie to stand trial

The television presenter John Leslie has been committed to stand trial at the end of this month following his appearance at Bow Street Magistrates Court today.

Mr Leslie, 38, denies two charges of indecent assault carried out on the same woman between May 25 and May 28 1997.

The trial is scheduled to go ahead at Southwark Crown Court, London, on July 31.

On leaving the court this morning, Mr Leslie said: "I have said I am not guilty – that is my case."

The presenter was arrested on December 5 last year by police investigating allegations of rape and indecent assault, and was later released on bail.

Mr Leslie, who was sacked by Granada in October as co-presenter on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ after the allegations emerged, has said that there is "absolutely no truth" in the allegations.
