Heathrow Express Rail Workers Plan New Strike

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union will strike for a day from 03.00 BST on 4th June.

This is the third walk out over cuts.

RMT acting general secretary Mick Cash said: "Despite the bogus claims from the company, the fact is that the previous two phases of strike action were solidly supported by the staff and the service was reduced down to a skeleton operated by scab managers, with limited training, while Heathrow Connect was closed entirely."

The Heathrow Express service connects the west London airport to London Paddington Station.

Police Appeal After Woman Is Sexually Attacked In Willenhall

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in Willenhall over the weekend.

The 39-year-old left a Walsall nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning when two men travelling as passengers in a black cab pulled up alongside her and offered her a lift home.

The men were dropped off near to Cavendish Road and the woman left the taxi separately to walk the remainder of her way home.

During this time it is believed that the woman was followed along Bentley Lane by one of the passengers from the taxi who then subjected her to a serious sexual assault.

The suspect is described as white, of a slim build, with short dark hair and protruding ears. It is believed he spoke with an eastern European accent.

Detectives investigating this incident are now appealing for the taxi-driver and anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward as they may hold vital information.

Detective Sergeant Nicola Austin, from Walsall's public protection unit, said: "I would appeal to the driver of the black cab who picked this woman up from Walsall town centre at around 3.45am on Sunday 25 May to come forward."

Kier To Build Emergency Dept

Kier has been appointed to carry out the construction and redevelopment works of the emergency department at New Cross Hospital for the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

Kier was awarded the contract, valued at £30m, under the ProCure21+ framework.

The development will bring all emergency services – which are currently spread out across the News Cross site – under one roof. The planned scope of works includes the construction of a three-storey emergency department containing the new A&E department, wards and admin space.

All associated demolition and connection works to the existing hospital will also be undertaken, which includes a link to the existing heart and lung building.

Work will be carried out in phased sections to ensure access to the hospital and the heart and lung building will be maintained at all times with minimal disruption and Kier will ensure hospital functions are unaffected.
