Man Dies After London Bus Collide

A man has died and another 13 victims have been injured in a crash involving a car and a double-decker bus in Clapton, east London at about 02:20 this morning.

The man, who was travelling in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene while another three men who were in the vehicle have been taken to hospital. One of them is thought to be in a critical condition and the other two, who were in the back of car, are in serious but stable condition.

All of the men are believed to be aged in their early to mid-20s.

Ambulance crews treated 10 passengers on the night bus while another number of people injured in the crash were also taken to hospital on a bus supplied by Transport for London.

The crash happened at the junction between Lea Bridge Road with Essex Wharf and motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

Police said inquiries into the cause of the collision are under way.

Guilty Verdict In Bus Stalker Trial
Levi Bellfield has been found guilty of the murders of two women in the trial dubbed the 'Bus Stalker' killings. Bellfield was found guilty of the murders of Amelie Delagrange, 22, in August 2004 and Marsha McDonnell, 19, in February 2003, following nearly six days of deliberation by the jury at the Old Bailey.
