No Evidence Of Madeleine In New Searches
Police officers investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have expressed their disappointment after three new searches turned up no new clues of the British toddler.
However, Metropolitan Police said labours will continue as they confirmed that "more activity has been agreed” and further requests are being compiled and will be submitted to the Portuguese authorities.
In a statement British police said: "A substantial amount of work is yet to be completed in the coming weeks and months" and added: "This recent work is part of ensuring that all lines of enquiry are progressed in a systematic manner and covers just the one hypothesis that she was killed and buried locally."
Yesterday morning police officers switched their focus to the second search area in Praia da Luz but they took down the cordon at lunchtime, about three hours after they started searching in the new area of scrubland.
They then moved on to a third area.
The new area was taped off in a field directly opposite the second site and they were seen entering the grounds of a property after they used bolt cutters to open the gates.
It is the most significant police activity in Praia da Luz since Madeleine went missing seven years ago while her parents have dinner with friends the apartment.
According to Scotland Yard, it is also the largest deployment ever undertaken by UK police overseas in a case of this type.

Major Police Hunt Launched After Boy Taken From Hospital
A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.

'Skull Cracker' In Custody In London
Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.

Riot Police Deployed As G8 Protesters Occupy Former Police Station
Some 100 riot police have been deployed in central London as protestors take to the streets to demonstrate ahead on the G8 summit being held in Northern Ireland next week. Officers were sent to Soho, where protesters are thought to have occupied a former police station on Beak Street.
