Rik Mayall Mourned At Private Funeral



The comedian and actor Rik Mayall has been buried after a private funeral gathered at St George's Church in Devon on Thursday afternoon that attended family and friends.

Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Ben Elton, Ruby Wax and Mayall's Young Ones co-star Nigel Planer were some of the 140 friends relatives and guests in the Rik Mayall' service which was held in the village of Dittisham.

The memorial service is expected to take place in September.

Mayall died last week aged 56 at his home in south west London after an “acute cardiac event” and was carried into the church in a wicker coffin adorned with red flowers.



Louis Tomlinson New Doncaster Owner



One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has become the new owner of the League One Team Doncaster after reach a deal with the former club owner John Ryan.

The deal will be explained in detail at a press conference in London but a spokesman for the former owner confirmed the operation to the Press Association Sport.

The boy band 22-year-old star is a lifelong fan of his hometown club and although the takeover was close to reach a deal before it was twice delayed due the image rights negotiations.

Tomlinson signed on as a player at the start of the season to make money for the Bluebell Wood charity.



Lorry Fire Closes M1 Motorway Near East Midlands Airport



The severe fire of a lorry in the M1 north motorway, near East Midlands Airport has forced to close the three lanes northbound between the junction 22 to Coalville and the junction 23a to East Midlands Airport in Leicestershire.

The fire was reported at about 8.30 BST on Thursday and was closed until noon with motor-drivers enduring slow traffic also to the south direction.

The fire did not affected to any flights according to the East Midland Airport.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Met Office Issues Hot Weather Warning As Temperatures Get Set To Soar
The Met Office has issued its first Heat-Health alert of the summer, as soaring temperatures have predicted in parts of the UK. Temperatures are expected to peak at 31C across East Anglia and south east England during Friday and Saturday.

Pilot Survives Harrier Crash
A Royal Navy pilot has ejected to safety as the aircraft he was flying crashed near Ashwell yesterday. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed that a Harrier GR7 aircraft crashed on farmland in Rutland just before 1.50pm.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.
