Police Appeal For Witnesses To Attack On Grieving Family

Essex Police have appealed for witnesses to an attack on a family in High Woods Country Park in Colchester on 23 July to come forward.

The family were holding a private memorial for a stillborn baby in the park when they were attacked by "a gang".

Police say that the father was punched to the ground and kicked, three children were assaulted and a family friend suffered two broken fingers in the attack.

The attack happened in the early evening as the family tried to release balloons in memory of their stillborn daughter.

Six people – two men, two women and two teenagers – have been arrested in connection with the attack and are on police bail until 19 September.

Police urged any witnesses to the attack to contact them.
