Passenger Plane Escorted Into Manchester Airport By RAF After Security Alert

A Qatar Airways passenger plane has been escorted into Manchester Airport following reports of a "possible device" on board.

It is understood that the Royal Air Force was scrambled after the pilot of the plane, carrying 269 passengers and 13 crew, received information that a passenger had brought "a device" on board.

Once landed it is understood that armed officers boarded the plane placing a passenger under arrest on suspicion of making a hoax bomb threat.

The airport was shut down from around 25 minutes, according to a spokesperson for the Manchester Airport, will all flights in and out suspended.

Police say that an investigation is underway.
