Pair Jump From Window To Escape Apartment Fire

Two people have been treated in hospital after jumping from a window to escape a fire.

According to reports a man in his 30s suffered serious leg injuries after jumping 20ft from an upper window of a flat in Tipton, West Midlands.

A woman also received treatment for the effects of smoke inhalation.

It is understood that a fire broke out in the flat at about 23:30 on Wednesday.

Up to 20 firefighters were on site to deal with the blaze, which is said to have "gutted" the flat.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.

Chief Fire Officer Resigns Over Child Porn Arrest
A top fire officer for the West Midlands Fire Service has resigned after he was arrested on suspicion of making indecent images of children. West Midlands Police arrested Frank Sheehan, 55, yesterday at his home in Sutton Coldfield.

Window Cleaners Rescued From Cleaning Platform
Two window cleaners have been rescued after being stuck in a cleaning cradle on the tenth floor of a building in central London on Wednesday afternoon. It is understood that the two men had been trapped on the cradle for several hours before London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called at 16:17.
