Woman In Stable Condition Following Crash

A woman is said to be in a stable condition in hospital after being involved in a road traffic accident earlier this week.

The woman, who is 52 years of age but has not yet been named by police, suffered serious injuries in the incident which happened on Monday (25 August) at RAF Scampton.

The accident involved a Land Rover Discovery and a Vauxhall Meriva. The driver of the Land Rover, a male aged 45, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Vauxhall, a male aged 59, was also pronounced dead at the scene. The car's two passengers, a man in his early 20s and a woman in her late 20s, were also injured but they are not thought to be life-threatening.

Woman Dies Trying To Get Phone
A woman has been killed whilst attempting to retrieve her phone from train tracks. The 23-year-old, from Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, was struck by a Waterloo to Exeter express train on Sunday evening. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Chief Inspector Alison Evans from British Transport Police (BTP) described the incident as a "tragic accident".

Two Arrested Over Child's Death In Peterborough
Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a small child at Peterborough City Hospital. According to police the girl, understood to be aged around 2, was brought into the hospital with serious injuries at around 11:00am on Thursday, being pronounced dead just before 13:00.

Two Die In 'Suspicious' Flat Fire
Two people have died in a fire at a block of flats in Hounslow, west London. It is reported that a 30-year-old woman was found in the street after jumping from the burning building. She was pronounced dead by ambulance crew at around 02:34 on Wednesday morning. 58 firefighters tackled the blaze in a flat at the block in west London.

Two Die In Barnsley House Fire
Two people have died in a house fire in Elsecar, Barnsley, South Yorkshire Police have reported. Emergency services were called just before 19:00 on Tuesday to a property in Cherry Tree Street. A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. No formal identification has taken place. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Cyclist Killed In Central London
Transport for London has confirmed that a female cyclist has died following a collision with a lorry in central London. It is understood the cyclist collided with an HGV near the junction of Horseferry Road and Millbank at about 09:30 on Thursday morning. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
