Boy Charged Over Knife Attack At Malvern School

A teenage boy has been charged in relation to an alleged knife attack at a school in Worcestershire on Monday.

The 13-year-old boy has been charged with 13 offences which include one count of causing grievous bodily harm, one count of causing actual bodily harm, one count of threatening a person with a knife, five counts of carrying a knife or bladed instrument in a public place and five counts of carrying a knife or bladed instrument in an educational establishment.

A male teacher and a 13-year-old pupil received minor injuries in the incident at The Chase Technology College.

Superintendent Mark Travis said: "Officers in Malvern have returned to the school this morning to provide reassurance to staff, pupils and local people. Fortunately, incidents like this are very rare and we will work hard over the coming weeks to understand the circumstances around this case."

A 14-year-old boy has been taken to hospital today after being stabbed at school. The teenage pupil suffered knife wounds this morning during an assault at Longhill School in Rottingdean, Brighton. A 15-year-old boy was arrested and questioned by police over the incident.

Soldier pleads guilty to war crime
A British soldier has admitted committing a war crime at the start of a court martial in Wiltshire. Corporal Donald Payne, 35, of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, pleaded guilty to inhumanely treating Iraqi civilians at the beginning of a court martial at the Military Court Centre at Bulford Camp on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire.

The Flying Squad has released CCTV footage of a shopkeeper grappling with a violent armed robber as officers hunt men suspected of two crimes which took place just minutes apart. The images capture the moment the brave 46-year-old and his son, 25, tried to fend off the robbers despite them being armed with a handgun and a large knife.

Portable Detectors Combat Knife Crime
Hand-held metal detectors are to be given out in the fight against Scotland's 'booze and blade' culture. The Scottish Government has allocated £30,000 to supply free hand-held metal detectors for all first-time recipients of Best Bar None Awards.
