Nicola Sturgeon Launches Bid To Replace Alex Salmond

Nicola Sturgeon has officially launched her bid to become the new leader of the SNP and Scotland's First Minister.

Ms Sturgeon said that while she was "more convinced than ever" that Scotland would one day become independent, she was willing to work with the Smith Commission to increase Holyrood's powers.

Ms Sturgeon is currently deputy leader of the Scottish National Party and the country's Deputy First Minister.

Speaking in Glasgow on Wednesday she confirmed that she would seek to replace Alex Salmond, who announced he was stepping down following the rejection of the independence referendum.
