EDF Energy Confirm Deal For Sea Bed Electricity

EDF Energy is to buy electricity generated by the DeltaStream underwater turbine off the Pembrokeshire coast.

Tidal Energy Ltd, the Cardiff-based company that owns the underwater turbine on the Ramsey Sound sea bed, has confirmed that it has finalised a 12-month deal with the UK energy firm.

The sea bed turbine is currently being installed and is expected to be generating electricity within months.

EDF To Takeover British Energy
The Government welcomed EDF's proposed £12.5 billion takeover offer for British Energy Group and the British Energy Board's recommendation of the offer to its shareholders. The Government has committed to accept the cash offer of 774p per share for its 36% stake held by the Nuclear Liabilities Fund (NLF), subject to certain conditions.

Olympic Park Wind Turbine Plan Shelved
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has decided against building a wind turbine on the Olympic Park site in east London. The ODA has insisted, however, that it remains committed to its sustainability targets and work is now underway to identify alternative options for renewable energy infrastructure across the Olympic Park.

Wales Maps Out Energy Self Sufficiency

440 Turbine Irish Sea Wind Farm Plans Scrapped
Plans for a 12 mile wind farm in the Irish Sea to the north east of Anglesey have been scrapped. It was claimed that the Rhiannon wind farm, which would have had 440 turbines, would have produced enough electricity for around 1.7m homes.
