Passenger Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Glasgow

A passenger plane, travelling from the US to Poland, has been forced to make an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport.

The Dreamliner plane, operated by Polish airline company Lot, touched down at Glasgow Airport at 11:35. Emergency crews had been dispatched as a precaution, but it is said that the plan landed safely.

Glasgow Airport said it was operating as normal with no disruption to other flights.

Five Britons Arrested Over Irish Cocaine Haul

Five British men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of 1,000 kilos of cocaine off the south west coast of Ireland.

The drugs, estimated to be worth around £100m, was discovered on a yacht around 300 miles off the Irish coast.

Irish navy officers arrested three men, aged 70, 35 and 28, on the yacht, named the Makayabella.

Another two men, aged 43 and 47, were arrested by West Yorkshire Police in connection with the drug seizure.

Northumbria Police Name Child Found Drowned In Family Pond

Northumbria Police have named a three-year-old boy who died by drowning in a pond at a house in Newcastle, as Callum Grahame Greenwood.

The child was playing in a relative's garden in Elswick Road on Thursday.

He was found in the pond a few minutes after his family reported him missing at about 18:45 on Thursday.

Northumbria Police said there was no third party involvement and a report was being prepared for the coroner.

Aberdeen Airport Protesters Held
Protesters have been taken into custody after voluntarily releasing themselves from a fortified fence on the tarmac at Aberdeen Airport. Seven protesters from the campaign group Plane Stupid were arrested by Grampian Police at around 8.20am. Two who remained on the roof of the main terminal building were detained later.

Heathrow Plane Crash-Landing Caused By Ice
The crash of a British Airways jet at Heathrow Airport earlier this year - from which, by some miracle, everyone escaped virtually unscathed - was probably caused by ice restricting the flow of fuel to the engines, investigators have now said.

Police Officer Arrested Over Uefa Cup Riots
A police officer has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in a violent football riot in Manchester. The man arrested, an Essex Police officer, was off-duty at the time of the clashes in Manchester city centre, as Glasgow Rangers were playing Zenit St Petersburg in the UEFA Cup Final last May.

Further raids in Australia over car bomb attempts
Police in Australia have questioned four more people and conducted new raids in connection with last week's attempted car bombings in the UK. Four people, all believed to be doctors, were questioned, but have not been arrested.

Terror suspect detained in Australia
A 27-year-old man has been detained by police at Brisbane airport in connection with the attempted car bombings in London and Glasgow. Australian authorities have confirmed that the man was a doctor who worked at the Gold Coast Hospital in Southport, eastern Queensland.
