Police Appeal For Information On Bruton Hit-And-Run

Avon and Somerset Police have issued an appeal for information on two cars seen in the area of a fatal hit-and-run on Tuesday night.

Police say that a man in his 80s was out walking his dog when it is believed that he was hit by a car, which failed to stop.

It is understood that the man was found in Cole Road in Bruton at about 20:35 on Tuesday night. He was treated at the scene for head injuries before being taken to hospital. He died a short time later.

Police say that any vehicle that hit the man would have been "substantially damaged", with a smashed widescreen.

Police are appealing for information on a light-coloured three-door hatchback, which possibly had a large strip on its roof, and a dark-coloured Range Rover-type vehicle, which may have had '61' in its licence plate.

Both vehicles were seen in the area of the hit-and-run and police want to speak to the drivers.
