MPs Support Motion To Clarify Illegality Of Sex-Selection Aborts
MPs have voted in support of a motion declaring that sex-selection abortion is illegal.
A cross-party alliance of MPs brought the motion in an effort to end uncertainty over the issue, with MPs voting 181 to 1 in favour.
It is understood that a decision last year by the Director of Public Prosecutions not to charge two doctors who had been caught on camera agreeing to abort female babies because of their sex, raised the issue that the law on the issue was unclear.
The alliance wanted to end any uncertainty over the legality of sex-selction abortions.
The motion will undergo a second reading in January.

Lib Dems To Discuss Airport Expansions Following Amendment
Two Liberal Democrat MPs are understood to have tabled an amendment that would allow for the expansion of Gatwick Airport. The party has to date opposed airport expansion, but it is understood that Lib Dem leadership are supporting the new amendment, which would see Gatwick becoming exempt from restrictions.

MPs' Expenses Details Published Online
MP's expenses claims, totalling millions of pounds have now been published online. The report by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) also features the requests that were turned down. Those MPs who had requests for reimbursement refused include Bob Russell, who had £346.

MPs' Expenses Investigation To Be Brought Forward
An investigation into MPs expenses is to be speeded up, it has been announced. Chairman of the Committee on Standards in Public Life, Sir Christopher Kelly, said the review would begin "by the end of the year".
