Rolls-Royce Announce 2,600 Job Cuts

A total of 2,600 jobs are to be cut by Rolls-Royce over the next 18 months.

It is understood the majority of the job cuts will be in its aerospace division, and will be cut by next year.

Announcing the job cuts, chief executive John Rishton said: "We are taking determined management action and accelerating our progress on cost."

"The measures announced today will not be the last, however they will contribute towards Rolls-Royce becoming a stronger and more profitable company."

North Sea Oil Company Announce Job Cuts
Oil company Taqa has announced it is cutting one hundred jobs because of the "challenging environment" of the North Sea industry. The company said it is consulting with its workforce over the job cuts, which it expects to be mostly contractors and consultants in onshore positions.

HSBC Announce Thousands Of UK Job Cuts
HSBC has announced 8,000 job cuts in its UK workforce, as part of a global effort to reduce costs and "simplify its business". Europe's largest bank, which currently employs 48,000 people in the UK, has said that it will seek to make 25,000 job cuts globally, reducing its worldwide workforce of 266,000 by about 10%.

BP Announce North Sea Job Cuts
Two hundred jobs and 100 contractor roles are to be cut from BP's North Sea operations, the oil company has announced. According to reports, a "small number" of compulsory redundancies are expected, with the majority of the cuts to be in onshore roles.

Cadbury's Announce 200 Job Cuts
Cadbury's has announced 200 job cuts at its Birmingham plant. It follows an announcement last year by owners Mondelez International of an investment of £75m in new production lines at the plant. It had warned that the investment could result in job losses.

Chevron Announce Job Cuts In Aberdeen
Over two hundreds are to be cut by oil firm Chevron in Aberdeen. The jobs cuts follow a review of its North Sea operations, the company has said, but it added that the final number of redundancies could be reduced, pending opportunities for some workers to move abroad and others moving back from overseas.
