British Base Jumper Dies In Cliff Fall

A British base jumper has died after plunging from a cliff in Australia.

Gareth Jones, 25, from Brighton, fell 90 metres on to a rock platform in Sydney.

Two of Mr Jones' friends tried but could not revive him.

An FCO spokesman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national in Manly, New South Wales on December 7. We are in touch with local authorities and stand ready to provide consular assistance to the family."

Body Recovered In Australia Believed To Be Missing Briton
Authorities in Australia searching for a missing British man have found a body while searching in bushland in the Blue Mountains region. 23-year-old Gary Tweddle, a computer salesman from Reading, was last seen in July when he attended a business conference in Leura, west of Sydney.

Porridge Actor Wilde Dies
British comic actor Brian Wilde has died at the age of 80. Wilde is best know for playing incompetent prison officer Mr Barrowclough in 'Porridge' and Foggy in the much loved sitcom 'Last of the Summer Wine'. The actor's son, Andrew Wilde, said his father died in his sleep of natural causes on Wednesday night in a nursing home.

BA suspends flights to Saudi Arabia over 'security concerns'
British Airways has announced that it is to suspend all flights to Saudi Arabia "due to heightened security concerns in the region". BA said that it would suspend flights until further notice follows discussions earlier today between the airline and the British government's Department for Transport.
