Bankrupt Property Tycoon Dies In Fall From Penthouse

A bankrupt property tycoon has died after falling from a fourth floor penthouse onto railings in London.

Scot Young, 52, fell from his property in Marylebone on Monday.

Mr Young was involved in a high-profile divorce battle with his wife Michelle, who got a £20m settlement last year.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "Police were called to Montagu Square, W1, at 17:18hrs on Monday, 8 December, to reports of a man having fallen from a fourth floor window.

"A man, believed aged in his early 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene."

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

House Prices Continue To Fall
The North East of England has experienced the greatest annual price fall in house value as the March data from Land Registry's House Price Index revealed an annual price decrease of 2.3% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £160,996. The monthly change from February to March is a decrease of 1.1%.

England & Wales House Prices Rising
Property values have stabilised and last month even showed a small rise - with London houses topping the poll. The July data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price increase of 6.7%, which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £166,798. The monthly change from June to July is an increase of 0.4%.

Inflation At 5% But Expected To Drop 'Sharply'
This month's official inflation figures are still more than double the 'target rate' of 2%, although it is expected to drop "sharply", according to the Bank of England. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) in the UK fell slightly to 5% during October, down from a rate of 5.2% the month before.

Third annual fall recorded in migration to UK
The number of people migrating to the UK has fallen for the third year running, according to statistics released today. New international migration estimates published today by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that overall 151,000 more people migrated to the UK than leaving it in 2003.

'Marked fall' in divorce rates
Divorce rates in England and Wales among men and women under 40 have fallen by 13% and 12% respectively since 2004, the Office of National Statistics has reported. However, the ONS also found that men and women in their late twenties had the highest divorce rates of all five-year age groups for the fourth consecutive year.
