74-Year-Old Man Charged In London Slavery Case

A 74-year-old man has been charged with false imprisonment, rape and child cruelty in London.

Police said that Aravindan Balakrishnan, who was arrested in November 2013, has now been charged with four counts of rape, 19 counts of indecent assault and one of cruelty to a person under 16. It is understood that the offences relate to three women.

In October 2013, three women were rescued from an address in Brixton, in a suspected slavery case.

Mr Balakrishnan is due to appear in court on 17 December.

23 Charged With Drug Offences Following Raids
More than 20 people have been charged with drug offences following a number of raids carried out in London, Gravesend, Dover and Deal. A total of 23 people were arrested during twenty raids carried out over three days. The suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 52, have all been charged in connection with the supply of class A drugs.
