Govt Announce Funding For Male Rape Victim Charities

A total of £600,000 in government funding has been secured to support male victims of rape.

The money, being made available under the Male Rape Support Fund, will be shared between 12 charities over two years, Victims Minister Mike Penning has announced.

An estimated 75,000 men were victims of sexual assault in 2012-13, but few crimes were reported to police, the minister said.

It follows an announcement by the Ministry of Justice in February that money would be made available to the charities in England and Wales.
