Elderly Man Dies In Road Crash

A 95-year-old man has died in a road accident in Kirby Cross, Essex.

The collision occurred at around 10.25pm on Friday (12 December) on Frinton Road.

It is understood a Suzuki Swift and a Volvo tipper truck were involved in the accident.

The victim, who was the driver of the Suzuki, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Essex Police have said a 46-year-old man was later arrested on the A130, near Benfleet, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop and being unfit through drink or drugs.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact police on 101.

Two Pubs Burgled In Mablethorpe

Police ave appealed for information after two pubs were robbed in the Coast area of Lincoln.

The first robbery occurred at a pub in the High Street, Mablethorpe, sometime overnight between 12 and 13 December. A door was forced open at the rear of the premises and money was stolen from a sweet vending machine inside.

The second incident happened at a pub in the High Street, Ingoldmells, which occurred some time between 12 noon on 13 December and 6.30pm the following day.

Again, the offenders gained entry via a rear door and then caused damage to gaming machines in an attempt to steal cash.

Man, 20, Arrested On Terrorism Offences

Scotland Yard has confirmed a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences.

He was arrested in Thamesmead, south east London, by counter-terrorism officers on Monday. It is understood he was detained on suspicion of preparing for an act of terrorism contrary to the Terrorism Act 2006.

He has been taken to a police station in south London.

No further information is available.

Man Arrested Over Police Threat
A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with threats made to West Midlands Police officers and staff on Tuesday. The man was detained at a property in the West Midlands by officers from the Counter Terrorism Unit, who are leading the investigation. He is currently being held in police custody.

A man has been arrested in Luton on suspicion of fundraising and inciting terrorism overseas, it has been reported. The Metropolitan Police said the 35-year-old has been taken into custody in London. Searches are now being carried out at three properties; two are in east London and the third is in Luton.

Seven Arrested On Suspicion Of Terrorist Fundraising
Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of terrorist financing offences, according to the Metropolitan Police. They were arrested at four separate addresses in London, Cardiff and Coventry at approximately 6am on suspicion of being concerned in the funding of a terrorist organisation, and laundering the proceeds of crime for that purpose.

Five Arrested Under Terrorism Act In Cardiff And Barry
Five men have been arrested under the Terrorism Act in Cardiff and Barry. Police officers from the North East Counter Terrorism Unit and the Wales Extremism and Counter Terrorism Unit executed six search warrants on Thursday. The men have been arrested under the Section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Counter Terrorism Police Arrest Two In Luton
Two men have been arrested by the Counter Terrorism Command unit of the Metropolitan Police. The men, said to be aged 37 and 61, were arrested in Luton on suspicion of supporting a banned organisation. Police said the men are currently in custody and are being held at Bedfordshire police station.
