Appeal After Man Suffers Serious Injuries In Liverpool

Police are appealing for information after an 83-year-old man suffered serious injuries on his driveway in Liverpool on Sunday.

Officers believe the gentleman was working on his car, a Chevrolet Lacetti estate, when he suffered multiple injuries on Twickenham Drive, Leasowe.

Neighbours and passers-by found him on the road at the end of his drive, with his car, at about 2.35pm, and he was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

His condition is described as critical, but stable.

Sergeant Craig O'Brien, said: "We believe that the gentleman had been working on his car. He suffered multiple injuries, which we believe were caused as a result of a collision with his own car, and we are trying to establish what happened.

"At this stage there is nothing to suggest anything criminal, but we would like to speak to anyone who may have any information so that we can establish what happened."

Family Of Man Stabbed In Manchester Pay Tribute

The family of a man who was stabbed in Manchester city centre have paid him tribute.

They said: "Clarence was a beautiful son; he was a brother, a father, a nephew, uncle and great friend to many. He loved life; he loved his family and his friends.

"Clarence wanted nothing more than to make people happy. He wanted to be a father and see his son grow up, but cowards have taken his life so soon.

"No mother should have to bury their child - our lives will never be the same again."

At about 3.25am on Sunday 4 January 2015, police were called to Charles Street by the ambulance service to reports a man had been stabbed.

When officers attended they found dozens of people gathered at the scene and Clarence Edwards, 26, on the floor with stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

A Home Office post-mortem examination has revealed Clarence died as a result of stab wounds.
