Search Continues For Windsurfer Lost In Fog

A search operation for a missing windsurfer got underway at first light on Monday.

The operation was launched at around 16:30 on Sunday when a group of windsurfers reported that one of their group, a 62-year-old man, had disappeared in thick fog and had not returned to the shore. The group had been surfing at Glasson Dock on the River Lune near Lancaster.

Seven RNLI lifeboats, a police helicopter and a mountain rescue team searched between Blackpool and Fleetwood until around 03:30 on Monday.

The RNLI said the search was stopped when conditions had gotten to bad to continue, but would begin again on Monday morning.
