Peers Tried To Push Through 'Snoopers' Charter'

An attempt to revive the so-called "snoopers' charter" has failed for a second time.

It is understood that four peers tried to push through the charter, which was previously rejected in 2012, by adding it to draft legislation currently before Parliament. However, the Lords rejected the charter for a second time.

According to a report by the BBC, the peers had added sections of the Communications Data Bill to the Counter-Terrorism and Security Bill.

Royal Troon To Review Male-Only Policy

Royal Troon Golf Club is set to review its male-only membership policy.

The golf club announced a "comprehensive review" of the policy, which could see it follow the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in dropping the restriction.

Man Cautioned Over Glasgow Bin Lorry Crash Tweet

A man has been officially cautioned by police for an offensive tweet posted after the Glasgow bin lorry crash, which killed six people in December.

A statement from police said the man handed himself in following complaints about his comments.

BBC Charter Review to consult nation’s youth
Children and young people throughout the UK are to be asked their views on the BBC as part of a major review of its future, Media Secretary Tessa Jowell has announced. She spelt out how the public consultation on the BBC, launched as part of Charter Review last month, will be extended to include the views of under 18s.

London Employers Celebrate Healthier Workplaces
The first recipients of the Healthy Workplace Awards have been announced. 14 organisations across England's capital signed up to the London Healthy Workplace Charter, which has been set up by the Greater London Authority to help employers wanting to create healthier workplaces for their staff.

Government publishes BBC Online review
Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell has given the BBC just under four months to redefine the remit for its online services, following the publication today of the findings of a major independent review. Tessa Jowell said she found Philip Graf's review into BBC Online "authoritative and constructive".
