M40 Crash 'A Series Of Accidents'

One man has died and four others are in still in hospital following a major road accident on the M40 on Saturday morning.

Police said the crash, which happened between junction 9 and 10 at about 07:45, was a "series of accidents in the same place at the same time".

A 65-year-old man from Woking, Surrey, died at the scene on Saturday, with four other people still being treated in hospital.

At its height 50 firefighters attended the scene of the accidents.

Thames Valley Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

M40 Closed After Fatal Accident
One person has died following a crash on the M40 in Oxfordshire this morning. The motorway is closed in both directions between Bicester and Banbury, after a lorry collided with two other vehicles before it crashed through the central reservation at around 6am. One of the vehicles involved was carrying oxyacetylene gas canisters.

Driver Arrested After Car Crashes Into Train At Level Crossing
An investigation has been launched into an incident in which a car collided with a train in Berkshire. British Transport Police have confirmed a car crashed into a train at a level crossing at Datchet in Berkshire at about 06:05 this morning. It is understood that the 67-year-old female driver was not injured in the collision.

M40 Biker Murder Scene Closed Off
A section of the M40 is closed off to allow the investigation of the murder of a biker. The man believed to be in his 30s, described as a 'Hell's Angel', was shot dead on the southbound carriageway between Leamington Spa and Gaydon. Police have said that biker gangs are a strong line in their inquiries.

Two Killed In Light Aircraft Crash
A pilot and a passenger have died in a light aircraft crash near Wymeswold in Leicester, police have confirmed. Police were called by the ambulance service at 7.55pm last night. Officers are working in conjunction with the Air Accident Investigations Branch (AAIB) to investigate the cause of the crash.
