Teenagers Arrested By Anti-Terrorism Police

Two teenagers have been arrested by counter-terrorism police in Greater Manchester.

Northern West Counter Terrorism Unit arrested a boy and girl, both aged 16, in the Mossley area of Tameside on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism.

It is understood that searches have also been carried out at addresses on Hanover Street and Spring Mill Drive.

Police stressed the arrests had not been made in connection with any "sort of international terrorist plot nor have we recovered any evidence to suggest the community of Mossley is at risk".

A police spokesperson added: "This investigation has arisen as a result of information from law enforcement agencies so it is prudent we act on that information and carry out a thorough, professional investigation to determine the circumstances and details of the activity reported."
