Teen Tied Up By Intruders In Oldham
Police are appealing for information after a teenager was tied up with a phone line after being confronted by intruders at his home in Oldham.
Between 4.05pm and 4.30pm on 3 March 2015, two men broke into a house on Melrose Street, Oldham.
As they were searching the downstairs, a 14-year-old boy, who was home alone at the time, came down from his bedroom and was confronted by the pair.
One of the men ripped the phone from the wall and proceeded to tie the boy up using the phone cable.
They then threatened him with a machete before stealing various electrical items, including games consoles and phones.
One offender is described as being of mixed race and about 30 years old. He spoke with a local accent. The second offender is described as white and in his 20s.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
Violence In Bangladesh Must End - Swire
Foreign Office Minister Hugo Swire urges an end to the last 60 days of violence and disruption in Bangladesh.
Hugo Swire said: "Britain has long been a close friend of Bangladesh. I am therefore particularly saddened about the last 60 days of violence and disruption which has had such an impact on the livelihood, education and security of so many Bangladeshi people. There is no place for this in a democratic Bangladesh."
Man Sentenced For Prison Absconsion
A 50-year-old man has been sentenced to 16 months after admitting a charge of evading lawful custody at Bristol Crown Court today.
Robert James Hennessey, formerly known as Simon Dominic Hennessey, was charged after being arrested at Heathrow Airport following deportation from Australia.
Hennessey absconded from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire on 20 November 1998, while serving a life sentence for the murder of his aunt Mary Webber in Plymouth in 1978.
Det Con Stuart Brooks said: "Robert Hennessey was arrested on suspicion of fraud offences in the Queensland area of Australia in 2013.
"Since then we've been working closely with the Australian authorities to ensure he was returned to the UK to serve the rest of his sentence and to face justice for the unlawful absconsion."

Met Concerned For Irishman Who Did Not Return To Hotel
The Metropolitan Police have expressed their concerns for the whereabouts of a 37-year-old Irishman they believe is missing in London. John Dowdall, from Scarriff, Co Clare, is known to have travelled to London on 31 July, booking into a hotel in the Cricklewood area of northeast London.

Vodafone To Create 1,400 Jobs
Vodafone is to create 1,400 jobs and open 150 new shops as it increases its UK investment programme. The investment will be rolled out over the next 12 months. The mobile phone company added that its annual investment in networks and services will reach £1bn this year – the highest in Vodafone's history.

Two More Mobile Phone Companies Roll Out 4G Service
4G data services have been launched in London, Bradford and Leeds as O2 and Vodafone join EE in offering the new, faster, mobile service. EE launched their 4G service in October last year, resulting in claims by other mobile phone companies that EE had been given an unfair advantage.
