Author Sir Terry Pratchett has died aged 66.

The creator of the Discworld series had been living with Alzheimer's disease for the last eight years.

Sir Terry's publisher, Transworld, released the news that the author died at home, surrounded by his family, "with his cat sleeping on his bed".

Following his diagnosis, Sir Terry had become a vocal support of assisted suicide, but Transworld said that he did not take his own life.
