'Several Days' To Remove Tree-Top Protesters

Bristol City Council said that it could take days to remove a group of protesters from tree-tops at Stapleton Allotments.

The council brought in a large number of "security specialists" to remove members of the Rising Up group, which took up residence in the trees more than a month ago in protest at a proposed new bus route.

It is understood that protesters have said that they will not resist being removed but they will also not assist those removing them.

Clarkson Reported 'Fracas' Himself

Jeremy Clarkson is understood to have initiated the investigation that led to his BBC suspension.

According to reports, the Top Gear presenter is understood to have reported the alleged "fracas" to the BBC's head of television, Danny Cohen. Oisin Tymon, the producer involved in the alleged incident is understood to have not made a complaint.

Interviews are expected to be held with Clarkson and other parties next week.

Three UK Piers Put Up For Sale

Three of the UK's best known piers have been put up for sale, with a collective guide price of £12.6 million.

Blackpool's South and Central Piers and the Grade II listed Llandudno Pier have been put on the market by owner Cuerden Leisure, which said that it is "restructuring its assts".

Blackpool Central is listed individually at £4.8m, the south pier is £3.3m and Llandudno is £4.5m.

'Security Specialists' Remove Tree-Top Protesters
A group of tree-top protesters, who have been living in trees at Stapleton Allotments for over a month, are to be removed today. Bristol City Council said that a number of "security specialists" began evicting members of the Rising Up group at about 07:40 on Thursday morning.
