Windsor Castle Staff Balloted Over Strike Action
Staff at Windsor Castle are being balloted over potential industrial action in a dispute over "unpaid extra duties".
It is understood that workers at the royal residence are expected to perform additional duties such as giving tours and interpreting for visitors, out of "goodwill", with the Royal Collection Trust saying that staff "volunteered" for the additional duties.
The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union has said that "low paid" staff are not receiving additional pay, despite tourists being charged for tours and interpreters.
The union said its 120 Windsor Castle members are being asked if they support industrial strike action, non-strike industrial action – which would see the withdrawal of "goodwill" services" or no action.
A 2014 pay offer was "only narrowly" accepted by staff on the understanding that that would be paid additional allowances for the extra services, "but this has not happened", the union added.

Public Workers 48-Hour Strike Begins
More than 270,000 civil and public servants from across the UK have begun a 48 hour stoppage over cuts to redundancy terms. LU Workers To Strike Next Week
London Underground workers will stage a 48-hour strike next week, the RMT union has announced. The strike is the latest in a long-running dispute over staff cuts, with the union advising its members not to book on for any shifts between 21:00 next Tuesday and 20:59 hrs on Thursday.

Main Irish post offices closed by CWU strike action
Around 20 post offices in southern Ireland were shut today as workers engaged in what An Post described as an “unofficial” strike action. The main GPOs including those in Dublin, Cork and Limerick closed as Post Office counter staff took industrial action.

National Gallery Staff Return To Work Following Strike
Staff members at the National Gallery have returned to work after an agreement was reached to end a dispute over privatisation. Members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union took industrial action on 11 August. Since February, it has taken more than 100 days of strike action.
