Man Arrested Over Takeaway Restaurant Murder
A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Tipu Sultan, who was found shot dead at the rear of a takeaway in South Shields.
Mr Sultan was found with a single gunshot wound at the back of his family restaurant, Herbs n Spice Kitchen, on Lake Avenue, South Shields, last Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe his murder was planned.
Police arrested a man, understood to be from Newcastle, on Sunday afternoon.
Police added they had received a "very positive" response to an appeal for information, and had further inquiries to follow up.

Man Arrested Over Nightclub Car Crash
A 26-year-old man has been arrested after a stolen car was deliberately driven into a group of people outside a nightclub. The Saab car mounted the pavement on Packer Street, outside the Dali Bar, injuring a total of fourteen people. Three people remain in hospital. The incident took place at 2.10am on Sunday in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

Man Arrested Over 1992 Murder Of Teenager
Police have arrested a man in connection with the 1992 murder of Johanna Young in Norfolk. The fourteen-year-old was last seen on 23 December when she left her home and headed towards Watton town centre. She was found to be missing the next morning when her alarm clock went off at 6am, the time she was due to get up and do a paper round.

Two Women Found Dead In Sheffield
The bodies of a mother and daughter have been found at a house in Hemsworth, in Sheffield. The discovery was made by police at an address on Ironside Road at 0740 BST. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by police. The area around the property has been sealed off.

Police investigating the murder of Melanie Hall have arrested a 39-year-old man. Melanie, 25, from Wiltshire, disappeared in 1996 after a night out at Cadillac's nightclub in Bath. Her remains were found on a slip road near Junction 14 of the M5 in South Gloucestershire last October.
