FCA Fine Clydesdale Bank Over PPI Complaints
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has issued a fine against the Clydesdale Bank for "serious failings" in its handling Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) complaints.
The bank has been fined £20.7m, understood to be the largest fine of its type imposed by the FCA.
The FCA said that up to 93,000 customers may be entitled to refunds or additional compensation.
Police Dig Underway In Re-launched Murder Investigation
A forensic dig is underway by police re-investigate a cold case murder in Cambridgeshire.
Police are digging an area near to where Andrew Bedford was last seen on Friday 28 September, 1990, at Factory Bank, off Great Whyte, Ramsey.
Previously, three people have been arrested in connection with the case but no-one has ever been charged. Police re-launched the case as a murder investigation last week.
Hostel Siege Ends With Arrest
A 12-hour siege at a hostel in North Ayrshire has ended with with the arrest of a 28-year-old man.
It is understood that a man staying at the Short Stay Hostel in Princes Street, Ardrossan, barricaded himself in his room on Monday night.
Police were called after the man threatened to self harm.
The incident started shortly before midnight and ended at about 11:20 on Tuesday.

Bank Of England Maintains Bank Rate At 0.5%
The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee today voted to maintain the official Bank Rate paid on commercial bank reserves at 0.5%. The Committee also voted to maintain the stock of asset purchases financed by the issuance of central bank reserves at £200 billion. The previous change in Bank Rate was a reduction of 0.5 percentage points to 0.

A three-year-old girl has died after falling from a fourth-storey block of flats in Sheffield. South Yorkshire Police said they are investigating the incident which is believed to have occurred at 4.30pm on Wednesday at the North Bank apartments on Willey Street, Sheffield.

Barclays Fined £38m By FCA
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has issued a fine of £38 million against Barclays Bank over a failure to keep its customers money separate to its own. It is the second time the bank has been fined for similar issues, paying out £1.1 million in 2011. The bank's investment arm is said to have put £16.

Barclays Fined £26m Over Gold Price Fixing
Barclays Bank has been fined over £26m by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) after an employee was discovered attempting to manipulate the price of gold. The FCA said the bank failed to adequately manage conflicts of interest between itself and customers between 2004 and 2013.
