Mass DNA Swabbing Operation Underway In Leeds

Police in Leeds are carrying out a mass DNA swabbing operation as part of a rape and attempted murder investigation.

An 18-year-old woman was attacked on 06 March in Beeston. She was dragged from a bus stop and bludgeoned with a stone before being sexually assaulted.

Police have already collected swabs from 250 men as part of the ongoing investigation.

The mass swabbing will collect samples from all males broadly fitting the description of the suspect. It is understood that police have a full DNA profile of the suspect, which means no one can be wrongly implicated.

West Yorkshire Police believe that the attacker "has a link" to the Beeston area.
