Two Men And Teenager Girl Arrested In Drug Raid

Police have arrested two men and a 15-year-old girl following a drug seizure in Lewisham.

Police raided a house in Lanchaster Way at 06:15 on Thursday morning, discovering large quantities of bagged-up cannabis and around £1,800 cash.

A set of electronic scales and other drug related paraphernalia, along with a moped that had been reported stolen from an address in Bromley, was also found at the premises.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis, money laundering and handling stolen goods.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and money laundering.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of cannabis.

All three remain in custody at a south London police station.

'U-Turn' As Cannabis Reclassified To Class B
Cannabis has been reclassified as a Class B drug, it has been announced today. In making her decision The Home Secretary Jacqui Smith went against the advice of The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD), which wanted to keep it a Class C drug. The council has not been overruled for 30 years.

Brown To Decide On Cannabis Reclassification
The Prime Minister has said that the Government needs to issue a warning to young people of the dangers of using cannabis. Gordon Brown was speaking after he received a report from the the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) on cannabis and will now have to decide whether to upgrade the 'weed' from the 'soft' Class C drug to Class B.

Young people 'get the message' on cannabis reclassification
Nearly all young people have got the message that cannabis is illegal, according to a new study published today by the Home Office. Cannabis was reclassified from a class B to a class C drug on January 29, following advice from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, to allow the police to focus on the class A drugs which do the most harm.

Cannabis Factory Uncovered In Cardiff Hospital
Police in Cardiff searching for a missing person have uncovered a cannabis farm in a disused ward of a psychiatric hospital. It is understood that around 30 cannabis plants were uncovered by officers during a search at Whitchurch Hospital in Cardiff. News of the cannabis farm was revealed in a report by the BBC.
