Police Seize Weapon, Drugs And Money In Vehicle Stop

Police have seized a weapon, drugs and large amount of cash during two vehicle stops in Greenford, north west London.

The Metropolitan police said armed officers stopped a VW Passat on Ruislip Road, near Ravenor Park, and a Ford Galaxy on the M4 junction with the Windmill Road, at about 18:30 on Sunday 19 April.

It is understood the driver of the Passat fled when stopped by police, but was arrested a short time later.

During a search of the vehicle, police found a loaded pistol, "believed to be an Uzi", cannabis worth an estimated £10,000, and a "large amount" of cash.

A 48-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger lives and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Two people in the Ford Galaxy, a 44-year-old man and a 20-year-old male, both from Ealing, were also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger lives and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

All four are currently in custody at a west London police station.

Detectives subsequently searched three residential addresses – one in Green Lawns, Ealing, from which they recovered ballistic body armour; one in Fletcher Road in Acton; and one in Cedar Grove, Ealing.

Police have said the investigation is ongoing.
