Appeal For Witnesses To 'Suspicious Incident' In Sunderland

Northumbria Police have appealed for witnesses to a "suspicious incident" between two vehicles in Sunderland on Saturday 02 May.

It is understood that a dark blue people carrier was driving on Ryhope Road, near to Backhouse Park, at about 20:20 when it was forced to stop by a Range Rover.

Police said that it is believed an altercation then took place between the occupants of the two vehicles, before they both drive away, the Range Rover at speed.

However, police have not received any reports of any type of incident from the occupants of the people carrier. They have had other people come forward who were in the area at the time and believed they witnessed a suspicious incident, however, at this time it is not clear what has taken place.

Police are appealing for the occupants of the people carrier to contact police and speak to officers about this incident.  Officers would also like to speak to anyone else who was also in the are at the time and may be able to shed some light on what has happened.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
