Appeal Issued For Historical Items Stolen From Liverpool BoE Building

Police have appealed for information in tracing a number of items reportedly stolen from the former Bank of England building in Liverpool.

A number of people were arrested at the building on Tuesday when police enforced a Warrant of Possession. When the building was subsequently inspected, a number of items were reported missing.

These include:

• The mechanism of an historic clock, described as an integral feature of the hall. It is protected as part of the historic fabric under the Grade 1 listed building designation.

• Lead from the building's roof, which has exposed the building to water damage.

In addition, Merseyside Police have confirmed that a copper World War I memorial plaque that had also been reported as missing has since been found.

"I would appeal to anyone who has any information about the theft of these items to contact us," Detective Inspector Graeme Robson said. "If you have any information in relation to the whereabouts of these items, or if you are offered these items for sale, please contact us immediately."

Anyone with information can contact detectives at St Anne Street CID on 0151 777 4065, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
