Judge Rules Ashers Bakery Guilty Of Discrimination
A judge has found a Christian-run bakery guilty of discrimination over its refusal to make a cake with a slogan supporting gay marriage.
Ashers Baking Company was asked by Gareth Lee to make a cake with Sesame Street characters Bert and Ernie with a motto in support of gay marriage.
Judge Isobel Brownlie said that Mr Lee has been discriminated against on the grounds of sexual orientation.
Northern Ireland Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness tweeted: "Asher's bakery judgement a good result for equality. Gay people have for far too long been discriminated against. We & the law on their side."
Sinn Féin MLA Caitríona Ruane said: "This is a clear judgement from the court that the company discriminated against gay activist Gareth Lee on the grounds of sexual orientation and political beliefs.
"This is the right decision and confirms our view that everyone should be treated fairly and with equality.
"It is a good day for equality and a good day for everyone in our society."
However DUP MLA for North Antrim, David McIlveen, tweeted: "Utterly sickened that a Christian owned business has been hauled over the coals for refusing to promote something that is not legal in NI."

Man Extradited From Morocco To Face Four Murder Charges
A 54-year-old man has been extradited from Morocco to appear in court charged with the murders of a family of four at their home in Northampton. Jifeng and Helen Ding and their two daughters, 18-year-old Xing and Alice, 12, were stabbed at their home in Wootton in April 2011.

Rehabbed Gascoigne Misses Sentencing
Ex-World Cup star Paul Gascoigne, 43, has missed his court appearance to be sentenced for drink-driving. The former footballer failed to show because he is in rehab. Last month he admitted driving while being four times over the limit and was due before Newcastle Magistrates' Court.

Brothers' Sentences Overturned
Two brothers, jailed for causing brain damage to an intruder, have had their sentences overturned at the Court of Appeal. Munir Hussain, 53, was freed, after originally being handed down a 30 months jail term for grievous bodily harm with intent. The businessman hit Walid Salem with a cricket bat on 3 September 2008.

Hodgson Conviction Quashed After 27 Years
A man who has spent 27 years in prison has had his conviction quashed at the Court of Appeal. Sean Hodgson, now 57, was sentenced to life imprisonment for strangling 22-year-old gas board clerk and part-time barmaid Teresa De Simone in Southampton.
