Teenager Charged Over Two Colchester Murders

A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of possession of a deadly weapon, has now been connected with two murders in Colchester last year.

Police arrested the teenager on the Salary Brook Trail at about 11am on Tuesday, 26 May.

Following enquiries by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, he has now been arrested on suspicion of the murders of James Attfield and Nahid Almanea.

James Attfield was murdered in March last year. The 33-year-old, also known as Jim, was found on the Riverside Path in Colchester in the early hours of Saturday, 29 March, with more than 100 stab wounds to his body.

Nahid Almanea, a student at the University of Essex, was murdered on Tuesday, 17 June, 2014 on the Salary Brook Trail in Colchester as she walked from her student accommodation in nearby Woodrow Way to the university complex in Wivenhoe.

Enquiries are continuing and officers would like to hear from anyone who may have any information in relation to the investigation.

Schoolboy killed by falling branch
A schoolboy who died when a tree branch collapsed on an adventure holiday has been named as Daniel Mullinger, 11, from Colchester in Essex. Daniel was with a party of schoolchildren from Heathlands Primary School in West Bergholt near Colchester. The group were on an adventure break at Felbrigg Hall in Norfolk when the accident occurred.

Police Report Missing Teen Found 'Safe And Well'
Police have reported that a missing 15-year-old girl has been found "safe and well". At the time of her disappearance Ella Hysom, from Colchester, Essex, had been receiving treatment for depression at a hospital in Goodmayes, east London. She had been reported missing on Monday, having been last seen in Ilford, east London.
