Eight Men Arrested Following Dawn Raids

Over 100 police officers have carried out a series of raids concerning child sexual exploitation offences in Oxford.

Eight men were arrested following the raids at 6am this morning 2 June.

Police are investigating approximately 60 offences in connection with the operation relating to female victims in Oxford between 1999 and 2007.

The men arrested are aged between 29 and 45.

Detective Superintendent Joe Kidman said: "This morning more than 100 officers executed search warrants at eight properties across Oxford at 6am as part of Operation Sabaton.

"This is a complex investigation into Child Sexual Exploitation in Oxford undertaken by the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit.

"We are working with our partners at Oxfordshire County Council to safeguard and support the victims, whose identities will be protected."

Bone Found In Disappearance Case
Almost eight years after a teenager went missing in Suffolk, police have said human remains have been found. Police investigating the disappearance of Luke Durbin have said an area in the village of Ufford has now been cordoned off following the discovery of a bone in a woodland last month. Mr Durbin was 19 when he went missing in May 2006.

Man arrested in Jeshma murder investigation
A man has been arrested in Latvia in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Jeshma Raithatha. Viktors Dembovskis, 42, is believed to have been arrested by Latvian police in Livani, 150 miles outside the capital of Riga. Mr Dembovskis is thought to be the man sought by police, who had disappeared shortly after Jeshma’s murder.
