Funding Boost For Welsh Language Centres
Six new Welsh Language Centres and Learning Spaces are to be created thanks to a funding boost of more than £1.5m.
The centres will promote the use of the language across Wales.
Supported by Welsh Government Capital Funding, the projects benefiting from the 2015/16 financial round are:
• Ynys Mon Council (£58,843) to develop a 'communications hub' for young people
• Cardiff City Council (£400,000) to transform the Old Library in the Hayes into a multi-purpose Welsh Language Centre
• Ceredigion County Council (£150,000) to develop a latecomers' immersion centre in Tregaron that would also serve as a centre for the wider community
• Gwynedd Council (£300,000) to create a multi-purpose Welsh Language Centre in the heart of Bangor
• Coleg Ceredigion (£300,000) to develop a multi-purpose centre in Aberteifi
• Academi Hywel Teifi (£300,000) to develop a multi-purpose Welsh Language Centre in Pontardawe.
Police Appeal Following Assault In Aberdeen
Police Scotland has appealed for information following an assault that occurred in the Broad Street area of Aberdeen last month.
On Sunday 23 May, at around 10.30am, the victim – who was elderly and in a wheelchair – was assaulted on a 17B bus which was stopped on Broad Street. The victim is said to have been uninjured in the attack, but was left shaken.
Police which to trace a middle-aged man, described as wearing a blue denim jacket, jeans and a black tammy hat.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Man, 63, Missing From Leeds
A man has gone missing from his home in Leeds.
Police have urgently appealed for information into his whereabouts.
George Ellwood, 63, was last seen on Tuesday 2 June at around 10am. He left him home in the Harehills area of Leeds to go for a walk. Mr Ellwood has learning difficulties and has difficulty communicating, police have said.
He is described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall, and of slim build. He has shaved balding hair and a close shaven brown beard. When last seen, he was wearing a black zip-up anorak, a black jumper with a collar, dark trousers and black shoes.
Detective Sergeant Mark Atkinson, Leeds District CID, said: "It is out of character for Mr Ellwood to go missing like this and we are very concerned for his welfare. He normally doesn't go very far from home and he is vulnerable due to his learning difficulties.
"We have officers out searching the area and we would urgently like to hear from anyone who has seen him or who knows his current whereabouts."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Three Shopping Centres Sold In £600m Deal
A number of shopping centres across the UK have been bought by London-based Intu Properties, in a deal understood to be worth almost £600m. The property company has reportedly paid almost £400m for the Westfield Centre in Derby, which was the first Westfield shopping centre to open in the UK in 2007.

MoJ Confirm Plan To Run Call Centres From Prisons
The Guardian has revealed a plan by the Ministry of Justice to set up call centres inside jails, as part of its work programme for prisoners. Details of the plans emerged after marketing material from an MoJ- supported company, which described the call centre scheme as a "rehabilitation revolution", were passed to the newspaper.

'Irresponsible' Drinks Promotions Banned
Irresponsible promotions including "all you can drink for £10" and "dentist chairs" will be banned under tough new powers introduced from today. It is estimated that alcohol-related crime and disorder costs the UK taxpayer between £8 and £13 billion a year.
