Man Douses Himself In Petrol Outside BBC Office

A man has doused himself in petrol outside the BBC's central London office.

According to reports, a man was outside BBC New Broadcasting House in Portland Place at about 09:10 this morning when he started causing a disturbance. He proceeded to douse himself in petrol.

Security guards restrained the man while waiting for police.

It is understood that two bags were also left outside the office, which are being examined by specialists.

The British High Commission confirmed that the Briton was released on Sunday after being seized on Friday outside Lagos airport. He had just arrived in the country. It is not know if any ransom was paid to secure the release of the man.

Police in Manchester has used a Taser on an armed man outside a primary school. It is understood that police were called after a man had started shouting at parents waiting to collect children.
