Peterborough Torso Identified By Police

Police investigating the discovery of a female torso in a suitcase at a property in Peterborough have identified the victim.

The torso has been identified as Ramute Butkiene, a 42-year-old Lithuanian woman, who worked as an agency worker in the Peterborough area.

It is understood that other tenants in Ms Butkiene's shared house reported a "pungent smell". When police attended the scene, they found the body inside a suitcase. It was missing arms, legs and a head.

Police have said that "further body parts" have since been found.

A 57-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

Ms Butkiene's family have been informed.
