Battle Of Waterloo Memorial Unveiled In Central London

Britain's first memorial for the Battle of Waterloo has been unveiled in central London.

The memorial has been unveiled to mark the 200th anniversary of the battle and remembers those soldiers who died.

The 9th Duke of Wellington, a descendant of the British military leader who won the battle, unveiled the enlarged campaign medal memorial.

Wartime Cookery Writer Marguerite Patten Dies Aged 99

Marguerite Patten, wartime broadcaster and cookery writer, has died aged 99.

Mrs Patten began her career during World War Two by teaching the public how to make the most of their rations, and first appeared on the BBC in 1947.

Her family confirmed that Mrs Patten died on 04 June.

Mountain Rescue Vehicles Damaged By Vandals

Three Land Rovers of the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team in Gwynedd have been badly damaged by vandals.

North Wales Police confirmed that they are investigating damage caused to the vehicles.

Officers said it was only "by chance" that no emergency calls were received on Tuesday, as the rescue teams would not have been able to respond.

Lee Rigby Memorial Unveiled
A Lee Rigby memorial has been unveiled in his home town of Middleton in Greater Manchester. 25-year-old Fusilier Lee Rigby was murdered as he made his way back to Woolwich Barracks in London on 22 May, 2013.

Bali bomb memorial unveiled
A permanent memorial to those who were killed in the Bali bombings four years ago has been unveiled in central London by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The sculpture is comprised of a marble globe decorated with 202 carved doves - one for each of the victims of the bombing.

Princes William and Harry have unveiled plans to stage a concert to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. The Concert For Diana will be held at the new Wembley Stadium on July 1 - the princess' birthday.

Memorial dedicated to military heroes unveiled at MoD
Britain's first permanent memorial for military recipients of the Victoria Cross and George Cross has been unveiled at a dedication ceremony at the MoD's HQ today. While Westminster Abbey is the home of a memorial for all Victoria and George Cross recipients, the MoD memorial specifically commemorates solely military personnel.
