LU Drivers Announce Strike Action
London Underground union Aslef, which represents drivers, has announced that its members have voted for strike action.
The drivers will strike for 24 hours in a dispute over pay and the introduction of a new all-night service. It is understood that the union rejected a 0.75% pay rise, a £500 bonus and an extra £250 bonus for the night shift.
Schools Closed Over Water Concerns
Concerns over the taste and smell of tap water in North Lanarkshire has led to the closure of a number of schools, while thousands of households have been told not to cook, drink or wash with the water.
It is understood that the alert affects some 6,000 properties in Carfin, Newarthill, Chapelhall, New Stevenston and Dalziel Park.
It is understood that the water has an "oily based substance" and a strong odour.
Letter Claims Missing Essex Man Is Dead
Police investigating the disappearance of an Essex man have received a letter claiming that the 28-year-old is dead.
Chris May has been missing from his home in Kelvedon since 25 May.
Essex Police have said that they received a letter, via Royal Mail, claiming that Mr May was the victim of an assault which led to his death.
It is understood that police are working on identifying the author of the letter and while the case is still officially a missing persons investigation, it is being treated with the seriousness of a murder enquiry.

Police continue to question letter bomb suspect
Police have been granted an extra day to question a school caretaker in connection with the recent series of letter bomb attacks at businesses in Britain. Miles Cooper, understood to be in his twenties, was arrested at his home in Cherry Hinton near Cambridge on Monday. He is being held at an undisclosed police station.

Nothing found in Madeleine search
Police investigating the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann have completed a search in an area of scrubland in Portugal where an anonymous letter claimed that she was buried. The search was carried out after Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf received an anonymous letter and map indicating where Madeleine's body could be found.
