Police Investigate Shooting In Merseyside

An investigation has been launched following reports of shots being fired in Dovecot in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police were called to the area at about 4am on Sunday and patrols found damage caused to a house.

The Matrix Serious Organised Crime unit of Mersyside Police is investigating the incident as well as reports that loud bangs, believed by residents to be gunshots, were heard in Aldwark Road five hours earlier at 10.37pm. 

The house was secured overnight to allow a comprehensive search for evidence of a firearms discharge to take place during the rest of the weekend however no evidence has so far been found. 

Neighbourhood patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.

13 Charged Over Heathrow Runway Protest
Thirteen people have been arrested in connection with a protest held at Heathrow Airport in the early hours of Monday morning. A number of people from a group called Plane Stupid, stormed the northern runway at about 03:30 on Monday. It is understood that the protest was in opposition to the airport's expansion plans.

Sunday trading laws to remain the same
There is to be no change to current Sunday shopping hours, Trade and Industry Secretary Alistair Darling has announced. The Sunday Trading Act 1994 limits the opening of large shops - those shops over 280 sq m/3,000 sq ft - in England and Wales to only six continual hours between 10am and 6pm. Larger shops must also close on Easter Sunday.

Search Continues For Missing Student
Police searching for a student who went missing from a Glasgow nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning, have reportedly found her handbag in a park. Searches are continuing for 24-year-old Karen Buckley, who went missing after telling friends she was going to the bathroom while at Sanctuary nightclub in the city.

Bodies Found In Milton Keynes Fire
Two bodies have been found in a property in Milton Keynes, following a fire. The fire broke out at the house in Fishermead Boulevard in the early hours of Sunday morning. One woman was rescued, but it is understood that floors and ceilings in the building collapsed before a full search could be carried out.

Former soldier remanded over murder charge
A former soldier has been remanded in custody charged with the murders of four people at the weekend. David Bradley, 40, and a former Gulf war veteran, was charged yesterday with the murders of four members of his family, who were found shot dead at a house in Benwell Grove, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on Sunday.
